Bright Late November Day in Pier Cove
24 X18 inches, Oil on linen, 2025
By late November, most of the leaves had fallen, opening the ravine and allowing light to move freely through the trees. Only the smaller trees deeper in the ravine retained patches of autumn color, their yellows and greens punctuating the forest floor. The clarity of the day intensified the entire scene—the blues of Lake Michigan and the sky, the warm oranges and purples of the ground, and the subtle contrasts within the trunks and branches. This work reflects the quiet openness that follows the peak of autumn and the simple pleasure of walking through a landscape fully revealed by light.
