Reflecting on Life at Phil’s
24 X 30 inches, Oil on Canvas, 2023 (SOLD)

In Reflecting on Life at Phil’s, the viewer is drawn into a moment of quiet within a vibrant bar in Saugatuck, Michigan. Framed by a bold red frame, the scene captures a lonely, reflective experience, reflecting on one’s self and reflecting another perspective of what is “outside.” Overhead, a clock hovers in the dusky ceiling, its face softened, its hands nearly lost—suggesting that time here is not fixed, but rushing by too quickly to grasp, a reality that I was also contemplating at the time.  Balancing immediacy and memory, Reflecting on Life at Phil’s captures the fleeting nature of moments we wish we could hold onto just a little longer.
