First Blossoms at Belle Vista Farm
14 X 17, Oil on board, 2026

First Blossoms at Belle Vista Farm was painted primarily plein air at Belle Vista Farms near Fennville, Michigan, at the moment when the apple orchard was just beginning to emerge into bloom. I was drawn to the contrast between the soft pink blossoms, the cool movement of the spring sky, and the vivid greens beginning to return to the landscape after winter. The shifting layers of trees, rolling terrain, and pathways of light allowed me to explore depth and perspective as a way of inviting the viewer into the experience of the orchard itself.
